17 goals in 30 games
Chicharito joined Los Angeles Galaxy for €8.55 million from Sevilla in 2020, and it appears the Mexican striker will remain in Major League Soccer for at least one more season. The striker confirmed as part of a media scrum on Thursday that he has a clause in his contract that has already been activated.
The original contract of the 34-year-old was set to expire in December. “When I reached 11 goals and 60% of the minutes, it automatically renews,” Chicharito said. The Mexican has scored 17 goals in 30 games this season. Chicharito also voiced his surprise that his contract was not made public by the club or the league. His current goal tally is the fifth most by any LA Galaxy player during a regular season, and his club is on playoff course in the Western Conference.
