Deal approaching?
Sasa Kalajdzic has been the biggest transfer topic at VfB Stuttgart this summer. The striker has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Manchester United. Another option discussed has been a new contract with the Bundesliga club. Now it appears that there is the first concrete interest from another club in the form of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Both Sky Germany and The Athletic reported on Monday that there have been negotiations between both clubs and that the player has already agreed personal terms with the Premier League club.
According to those reports, the Austrian is open to a move to England, the reports wrote. But Stuttgart’s sporting director Sven Mislintat somewhat played down the fact that a deal is imminent. “It is true that there is interest from England; Wolves are one of the clubs,” Mislintat said. But it isn’t concrete one direction or another at this point.”
Are Wolves ready to fulfill Stuttgart’s asking price for Sasa Kalajdzic?
Stuttgart are asking for €25 million for Kalajdzic and Wolverhampton are ready to fulfill those demands. The fee would correlate with the Austrian’s market value and would be a significant fee for a player out of contract at the end of the season. Only Benjamin Pavard (€35m) and Mario Gómez (€30m both to Bayern) earned a bigger transfer fee in Stuttgart’s history.
Werner, Leno, Kabak & Co.: VfB Stuttgart’s record departures
Kalajdzic was the top scorer for the Swabians last season but has failed to score this year. The Austrian has, however, collected three assists. The striker is the most valuable player in the squad and it looks like there could be a resolution regarding his transfer saga very soon.
