Set to join city rivals
Bernd Leno is on the verge of joining Fulham. The German keeper, who has been under contract with Arsenal since 2018, is said to have reached an agreement with the West London club weeks ago and will now move from the north of the British capital directly to the River Thames. The city rivals, who will meet in the Premier League again after Fulham’s promotion, have agreed on a transfer fee, according to information acquired by Sky Sports.
About €9.5 million will reportedly be paid for Leno, who then cost more than €40 million over the course of his career, which earns him a place among the ten most expensive goalkeepers in history. The 30-year-old joined Arsenal for €25 million from Leverkusen in the summer of 2018.

24-year-old Marek Rodak (33 league appearances last season) and 29-year-old Paulo Gazzaniga (13 league appearances in 2021/22) are the only two keepers, newly-promoted Fulham currently have in their squad. Leno is said to be the desired solution as the number one in goal. At Arsenal, the international had lost this spot following the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale last season and only made four appearances in the Premier League.
Leno still looked set to remain at Arsenal in mid-June. “He is a German national team goalkeeper, has always performed well at Arsenal and is an absolute team player,” Leno’s agent Joannis Koukoutrigas said (quoted by Bild). “For me personally, Bernd is also the clear number one at Arsenal. With all due respect to the competitors.” Now he is set to swap the second largest Premier League stadium in London for the third smallest.
