Last at Derby County
Former Manchester United wunderkind Ravel Morrison has joined the 12th club of his professional career. On Thursday, Major League Soccer side D.C. United announced that they have signed the 29-year-old attacking midfielder on a free transfer from Derby County and will be reunited with his former manager Wayne Rooney. Morrison has signed a contract until 2023 with a club option until 2024.
“Wayne worked closely with Ravel during his time as manager of Derby County,” D.C. United president of soccer operations Dave Kasper said in a club statement. “Ravel is an incredible talent, and his ability to create and score goals is impressive. He has played at the highest levels during his career and his vision, creativity, and ability on the ball will be a huge asset for us.”
FT! #VamosUnited 2-6 #Bayern. Typical friendly in some ways, with the Rekordmeister pushing hard early but then taking the foot of the pedal allowing D.C. to score two goals before Müller added a sixth. De Ligt injury will overshadow this game.

Rooney, of course, is still waiting for his own visa to take over as a head coach officially. The English coach was in a consultancy role only in his side’s 6-2 defeat to Bayern on Wednesday. But with various issues obvious in his squad, Rooney is now fully involved in restructuring his side. Morrison played one of his most consistent seasons under the English coach last season, scoring four goals and four assists in 36 Championship games.
Morrison to D.C. United – “Ravel is a dynamic and exciting player”
“Ravel is a dynamic and exciting player who has experience performing at the elite levels in Europe and Mexico,” D.C. United general manager Lucy Rushton said in a club statement. “He is a top-class midfielder with excellent technical ability and positional versatility. His game intelligence and all-round attacking ability allow him to fit perfectly in the system and style that Wayne wants to play. We look forward to integrating him with the roster and having him contribute on the field as soon as possible.”
