Decisive week for German giants

Bayern Munich are hoping to complete a number of transfer deals before the end of the week, if reports in Germany and across the continent are to be believed. The Bundesliga giants head off on their US tour next week and the back pages would suggest that some major deals in and out of the club are likely to be completed before Julian Nagelsmann and his squad board the plane and cross the Atlantic.

Perhaps the most likely deal to be announced in the coming days will be that of Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt and his proposed move to Munich. The Netherlands international has been the subject of transfer negotiations between the two clubs in Turin for much of the week, with Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić filmed and even caught discussing the proposed move. “We spoke and now let’s see,” Salihamidzic replied in Italian when he was intercepted by Italian journalists at Turin airport. According to Sport1, Bayern’s first offer in the region of €60 million plus a further €10m in bonus payments was rejected. The Serie A giants are reportedly holding out for no less than €70m, which the Bavarian giants are expected to match in the coming days.

Barcelona prepare final bid for Lewandowski – striker likely to be sold

However, while Bayern fans may be getting excited at the prospect of a major new signing, they may also have to contend with some big names leaving the club too in the coming days. Most notably, star striker Robert Lewandowski. Who continues to be heavily linked with a move to Barcelona. According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Catalan giants will prepare a final offer of around €50m, plus bonus payments and send it to Bayern before the end of the week. And considering that the German side have reportedly been holding out for around €50-55m for much of the summer, it seems likely that the Poland international may finally get his wish to depart for a new adventure in Spain.

However, Lewandowski isn’t the only Bayern star being linked with the exit door this week. Following on from the De Ligt transfer news, central defender Benjamin Pavard has been linked with moves to Chelsea, Juventus and Atletico Madrid, While Serge Gnabry has notably found himself linked with a move to Stamford Bridge too, ahead of what will reportedly be final contract negotiations in the coming days.
