Join-in concept explained
Transfermarkt has one of the largest football databases in the world. You can find information on more than 850,000 active and former footballers from over 1,500 competitions worldwide. Over 80,000 clubs are already covered in the database, plus more than 90,000 coaches, 50,000 referees and over 1.2 million match reports.
But that is not all. Did you know that you yourself can contribute to the growth and prosperity of this database? The join-in concept exists since the foundation of the site and it still applies today, whether in data maintenance or transfer market values. All you have to do is register as a user on Transfermarkt and you are ready to go. (Link to registration) Then there are also other interesting features available to you, which we will present to you in the following.
Data administration: Correct player profiles or match reports and much more!
As a registered user you can, for example, suggest corrections to player profiles, enter transfers or new match reports. In this way you can support the volunteer admins and data scouts who check the corrections according to the four-eyes-principle. Therefore, it is always advisable to include a source in order to have a direct influence on the content and quality of the database. The responsible data scouts and contact persons for a league are listed in an info box on the overview page of a competition.

Too high or too low? Discuss and argue to find the perfect market value
Transfermarkt market values also require your assessment. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm, but determines the market values based on the discussions in the market value analysis. As a registered user, you can discuss your arguments about individual players with other users and provide our market value admins with important input for the upcoming update.
A detailed definition of Transfermarkt market values can be found here!
Who is moving where? Discuss and vote in the rumour mill
You are also in demand in the rumour mill. Here you can post rumours for which there is a source, discuss them and even give a rating on how likely you think a transfer is. After you have registered as a user, you will be automatically activated for the rumour mill after a certain time. You can find more information here.
Besides the market value analysis and the rumour mill there are other discussion boards on Transfermarkt. Here you can find an overview.
An overview of your stadium experiences: Use the groundhopping tool
Do you regularly attend away games with your club and have already seen the inside of every stadium in the league? Or do you like to travel to different countries to get to know the football culture there? At Transfermarkt you can easily create a list with all your stadium visits: With the groundhopping tool.
Find the biggest talents in the database and follow them with the TM watchlist
The watchlist allows you to always and immediately stay informed about updates and changes in a player profile. Is one of your club’s top performers in talks with another club? Has there been a contract extension or a market value update? Where is the next top talent playing? You can track these and other facts handily and at a glance.
Via the blue plus next to the player’s name in a profile, it is possible for every registered TM user to follow a player and to be informed directly about news. The watchlist is integrated in your personal user profile – it lists all players a user is following. Different colours indicate if, when and which changes have been made in the respective profile.
