New Old Trafford signing
Manchester United have confirmed the first signing of Erik ten Hag’s tenure at the club, following the transfer of Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord to the Premier League giants. The young defender has agreed to a four-year deal at Old Trafford and will reportedly make the move to England in a deal worth an initial fee of €15 million.
“It’s an incredible feeling to have joined Manchester United,” said the new signing on the club’s website. “This is a new chapter for me, a new league with new team-mates and a tremendous manager [Erik ten Hag] leading us. I know from playing against his teams in the Eredivisie, the qualities that he has and what he demands of his players. He added: “Whilst I know that I am still young and will continue to develop, I can promise the United fans that I will leave everything on the pitch every time I pull on the red shirt. I’ll always be thankful to Feyenoord for all they have given to me and my family. None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for them. Now I’m ready to focus on the future with United, and help my new club achieve success.”

Despite only being 22 years of age, Malacia made over 130 appearances for Feyenoord since making the step up to the first team in 2017. In that time the young left-back has bagged four goals and 10 assists, while going from strength to strength with his international team too. The defender currently has five caps for the Netherlands international team.

Malacia confirms Man Utd move – Eriksen set to follow
However, it’s unlikely that the young defender will be Man Utd’s last foray into this summer’s transfer window. Ten Hag’s side have been heavily linked with moves for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, as well as Ajax central defender Lisandro Martínez. However, one start that could come before all of them is none other than former Brentford midfielder Christian Eriksen.
According to the Athletic, the midfielder has agreed to make the move to Old Trafford, after verbally agreeing to a three-year deal with the club. The 30-year-old talent has reportedly undergone medical tests at Man Utd, and should complete his move to the club shortly. The Denmark international collapsed on the pitch at Euro 2020 after suffering a cardiac arrest and was later fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator. Such a procedure meant the player was forced to leave Inter Milan due to Serie A rules, but later joined Brentford and made 11 stars in the English top flight in the second half of last season.
