Return to Dortmund?
While Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal have all quickly got on with their summer business, one Premier League giant that hasn’t really got going in the transfer window yet are Chelsea. Due to the club’s recent takeover by new owner Todd Boehly, the hierarchy of the backroom staff has quickly changed and as a result, manager Thomas Tuchel has had to sit patiently while he waits for his new bosses to get their feet under their desks.
Whether it’s Barcelona, Chelsea, Arsenal or Tottenham, everyone seems to want a piece of Leeds United forward Raphinha

However, according to reports in England, the Stamford Bridge side are ready to get back into the game and have identified their main transfer target. According to the Guardian, Chelsea have submitted an offer for Leeds United forward Raphinha and are now hoping to convince the Brazilian star to ignore offers from Barca and Arsenal and instead make a move to the former European champions. Raphinha, who is currently valued at €45 million, has enjoyed two impressive seasons at Elland Road since joining the club from Stade Rennais in 2020 for €18.6m. If reports are to be believed, the 25-year-old talent could end up costing Chelsea as much as €64m and his arrival could send huge shockwaves through Tuchel’s squad, which already has a number of attacking players in Raphinha’s position.
Haaland, Coutinho & Co. – The most expensive summer transfers in 2022
Ziyech and Pulisic on a shaky peg – Raphinha arrival imminent
Indeed, the arrival of Raphinha will almost certainly mean one or more of Chelsea’s current wide forwards may have to consider moving on before the start of next season. Hakim Ziyech seems like the most obvious candidate, following his struggles to nail down a starting role in Tuchel’s team over the past few seasons. However, one far bigger name that could be edging towards the exit is none other than Christian Pulisic. Although injury – rather than poor form – has largely got in the way of settling in at Stamford Bridge, reports in England suggest that Tuchel & Co. may be growing impatient with the forward. According to Tuttosport, Juventus would be tempted to include the American in any deal that saw Matthijs de Ligt make the move to Chelsea this summer.
#BVB – Christian Pulisic is not a topic at Borussia Dortmund. An early departure of the 23-year-old winger from Chelsea (still contract until 2024) is not unrealistic but he won’t got back to @BVB this summer. Too expensive (salary, fee). @SPORT1

The winger was also linked with a return to Borussia Dortmund this summer, however that has quickly been dismissed by reports in Germany. According to Sport1 reporter Patrick Berger, the Bundesliga side simply couldn’t afford Pulisic’s wages or any future transfer fee. However, according to Berger, a move away from Chelsea this summer is far from unrealistic.
