Will leave after ‘Caps game
Canadian Premier League side York United have transferred Diyaeddine Abzi to Ligue 2 side Pau FC. The 23-year-old left-back will leave the club on July 1 when the transfer window opens in Europe and will be available for the upcoming Canadian Championship game against the Vancouver Whitecaps. A source has told Transfermarkt that York United have received $50,000, plus 25% of any future transfer.
“We got to a situation where multiple clubs were showing interest but this was the move that he (Abzi) really wanted,” York United president Angus McNab said in a club statement. “It was then on us to come to an agreement with Pau. I’m very grateful to them for being so understanding of how crucial our upcoming games are and agreeing to a release after the Canadian Championship semi-final with Vancouver Whitecaps next week.”
A former Canadian youth international, Abzi has been a crucial player for York United this season. Able to play both on the left wing and as a left-back, Abzi has managed one goal and two assists in 11 games across all competitions this season.
