480 players updated
Transfermarkt have now updated the market values of all 480 players in the Dutch Eredivisie, following the conclusion of the league season. The focus in particular undoubtedly falls on the numerous winners from the top teams, Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord.
Ibrahim Sangaré made the biggest jump in terms of market value. The 24-year-old defensive midfielder increased his market value from €16 million to €24m, which corresponds to an increase of 50 percent. The Ivorian, who joined PSV from Toulouse for €7m in 2020 was a regular starter for the Dutch giants, taking part in 49 competitive games this season, with four goals and four assists. As such, it comes as no surprise to see Sangaré’s name linked to a number of Premier League clubs. Liverpool, in particular, are said to be interested in triggering the player’s reported €35m release clause.
Jurrien Timber is another high-flyer in Eredivisie. The 20-year-old central defender has now seen his value increase from €30m to €45m following 43 appearances as well as three goals and two assists for Ajax this season. Such performances have attracted the interest of numerous big clubs around Europe, most notably Manchester United. Where Timber’s former head coach, Erik ten Hag, now resides.
Another Ajax star that has also attracted a huge amount of interest is none other than Sebastien Haller. The 27-year-old striker had another remarkable season, notching up no less than 43 goals in 43 matches – a far cry from his spell at West Ham. However, it’s unclear whether the striker will continue his career at the Dutch giants, with Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich heavily linked with a move for the striker. Following a career best in terms of a return on goals, Haller’s value has increased to €35m.
Haller back at the top – The most valuable Eredivisie players
Feyenoord’s Orkun Kökcü also made impressive progress. The 21-year-old Turkish midfielder pulled the strings at Feyenoord, scoring nine goals and providing nine assists in 51 games. As a result, the international received an upgrade from €17m to €22m. His teammate Luis Sinisterra also received with an increase of €7m – the second largest of the update, specifically from €18m to €25m. Going up from €8m to €14m, PSV midfielder Joey Veerman is among the winners as well. The 23-year-old arrived for €6m from Heerenveen in the winter.
Neilson continues rise – Madueke stalls at PSV
Good news for Arsenal fans comes in the form of an increase in market value for young winger Reiss Nelson, who has spent the previous season on loan at Feyenoord. As an ever-present member of the club’s starting XI, which made its way to the UEFA Conference League final, Neilson finished the season with four goals and seven assists across all competitions. His value has increased from €5.5m to €6.5m.
Elsewhere, Tottenham Hotspur fans may take notice of Noni Madueke’s value remaining at the €18m mark, following a frustrating season for the young winger. The 20-year old has made great strides since leaving the Spurs youth academy for first team football in the Netherlands but a number of injuries over the past 12 months have limited his impact at PSV. As such, the player’s value remains the same for now.
How Transfermarkt market values work
The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.
The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
