Northern Ireland also complete
The Transfermarkt statistics have been enriched by two more milestones. In our database, all matches of the national teams of Ireland and Northern Ireland are now available. The standout player in the history of the Irish is former striker Robbie Keane, who is both record player and goal scorer for the Boys in Green. The 41-year-old, who has already worked as an assistant coach for the national team, has 146 games and 68 goals to his name.
Keane, Dunne & Co. – Ireland’s record players
Ireland’s two heaviest defeats came against their second most common opponents, England – once a 13-0 and once a 13-2 loss. The highest victory, meanwhile, was not by double digits. 8-0 it ended on 16 November 1983 in a European Championship qualifier against Malta.
For Northern Ireland, the titles as record player and record goal scorer are spread across two different pairs of shoulders. Rangers midfielder Steven Davis (128 games) made the most appearances, while David Healy (36 goals) was the most accurate striker. The Green and White Army also played the most matches against England. In 63 encounters, they only won five times (46 defeats).
