Major League Soccer club New England Revolution are set to lose Adam Buksa. SB Nation’s Seth Macomber was the first to report the story on Sunday, L’Equipe then confirmed the report that RC Lens have reached an agreement with the MLS club to sign Buksa for €6 million. The transfer story was further underlined by the fact that a picture of Buksa holding up an RC Lens shirt circulated on Twitter Sunday evening.
Buksa’s departure will be a significant loss for the Revolution. The 25-year-old has scored 11 goals in 13 games across all competitions for the New England-based club. Signed for $4.62 million in January 2020, has become an MLS sensation scoring 35 goals in 73 games for the Revolution and improving his market value from $1.1 million to a career-high $9.9 million. The striker has also become a regular for the Polish national team scoring five goals in seven games.
The €6 million transfer fee makes it the third-highest fee received in New England Revolution history. Only Tajon Buchanan and Matt Turner were more expensive than the Polish striker (overview). For Lens, Buksa will become the second Polish player signed from MLS. The Ligue 1 club signed Przemyslaw Frankowski from Chicago Fire for just €2.5 million last season and the Polish midfielder has been sensational increasing his market value from $2.2 million to now $8.8 million.
