Forward gets three-year deal

Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of Manchester City forward Jayden Braaf, after the young talent agreed a free transfer to the Bundesliga side upon accepting a three-year deal, which will run until June 30, 2025. The 19-year-old Dutch youth international can play on either wing and makes the move to Germany four years after leaving his native Holland, where he came through the PSV Eindhoven youth ranks.

Despite making the move to Manchester alongside a huge amount of buzz for his talents, Braaf has had a difficult four years. After making the move to Man City’s youth team, the young forward picked up a nasty injury which ruled him out for much of the 2018/19 season. He then got back on his feet and performed well in the following campaign, bagging 12 goals and three assists in 29 games for the club’s youth side. However, in an attempt to pick up experience in senior football by moving on loan toUdinese last season, Braaf was once again struck down by a serious injury which ruled him out for the duration of the season.

‘Braaf will need time to regain his former strength’ – Kehl calls for patience

Now at Dortmund, the German side are well aware of the difficulties Braaf has faced and sporting director Sebastian Kehl is adamant that the young talent will be given the time and space to develop without rushing into new injuries in the future. “Jayden, whose development we have been following closely for years, has shown in the past that he can be a difference player with his pace and talent,” said the Dortmund boss in a club statement. “After more than a year out through injury, he will certainly need time to regain his former strength and fully establish himself in men’s football. We want to give him this time and gently introduce him. If Jayden masters the phase ahead of him and stays clear, we have a great talent on board in him.”
