Man Utd set for summer clear out
Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has confirmed that the club will need more than three or four new signings this summer to get back to the top of the Premier League next season.
The Old Trafford side are expected to complete the signing ofAjax manager Erik ten Hag as their new boss in the coming days, with a busy summer transfer window to follow.
However, Rangnick, who is expected to move into a sporting director role at the club, has warned that all but one position in the starting XI may need to be reinforced or improved upon ahead of next season.
“There might be a couple of players – and I have already named those players to the board – that independent from formation, from style of football, and independent from a new manager, that could be of interest for a club like United,” said Rangnick in an interview with Sky Sports.

“But in general, if you look at the size of the way the team needs to be rebuilt, I mean, it’s not enough to bring in three or four new players. It will be more, bearing in mind how many players will no longer be here with the contracts running out.
“I think apart from the goalkeeping, we need to make sure that we improve the squad in all areas. To bring in players who really help the team to get better – again, it’s about the profile. What kind of players do we need in order to play whichever kind of football we want to play?”
Old Trafford exodus on the cards
Aside from buying new players to improve the squad, Man Utd will need to bring in new faces to simply replace the players that will be leaving this summer.
As things currently stand, Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani are all expected to leave the club when their contracts come to an end in a few months time.
However, they may also be joined by under-contract stars who have been linked with moves away from the club, such as Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
