Intermediary update

Transfermarkt.pl has updated the Polish PKO Ekstraklasa. In the intermediary update, 209 players were given new market values. Among the big winners was Spaniard Ivi López from second-placed Rakow Czestochowa. The 27-year-old is first in the golden boot race with 15 goals and has seen his market value grow by €500,000 to further cement his place in the top five of the most valuable Ekstraklasa players.

López moved to Poland from Spanish club UD Levante, and his market value is now €3.5 million. Since his move, the Spaniard has been involved in 47 goals in 68 games and has increased his market value significantly from his original €650,000. López’s contract at Rakow runs until 2024, but there has been significant interest in the forward, and a transfer this summer is possible. Also up by €500,000 are Lech Poznan’s key players Joel Pereira, João Amaral, and Mikael Ishak—the former 1.FC Nürnberg star has been involved in 18 goals over 25 league games and is one of the reasons for his club’s positive run this season.

Lech and Rakow are in a title fight with Pogon Szczecin, where 19-year-old Mariusz Fornalczyk (from €350,000 to €750,000), Luís Mata (from €900,000 to €1.4 million), he might be the most creative left-back in the league and the most stable defender of the competition Konstantinos Triantafyllopoulos (from €1.5m to €1.8m) have increased their market values. The three have been a major reason that the club is among the title contenders this season.

Market values Ekstraklasa: 16-year-old Stalmach impressive

One of the biggest winners of the update is 16-year-old Dariusz Stalmach. The Gornik Zabrze talent sees his market value improve by €350,000 to now €500,000. The attacking player made his league debut as a 15-year-old and has been heavily linked with a transfer to Red Bull Salzburg.

How Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.

The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
