Intermediary update Super League
After 27 games played, Transfermarkt.ch has updated the market values of the Swiss Super League, which has led to changes among the most valuable players in the competition. Becir Omeragic from FC Zürich saw his market value increase by €1 million to €8 million, enough to jump to a shared second place and the highest value of his career. Only Basel’s Fedor Chalov has a higher market value.
“The diamond has been further polished and is now one of the most important players at much improved FC Zürich,” Area Manager Switzerland David Isler said about the center-back playing for the current league leader. In the winter, the 20-year-old has been linked with a transfer to Borussia Dortmund and has only missed one game this season because of a yellow card accumulation.
Omeragic’s teammate Wilfried Gnonto has also seen his market value increase. Together with Young Boys’ Fabian Rieder, the 18-year-old is the biggest winner of the update with a market value increase of €3 million. “Head coach André Breitenreiter has managed to turn the raw diamond into a gemstone,” Isler said. “Because of his rapid development, we are unlikely to see him in Switzerland much longer.” The forward now has a market value of €6 million. The Italian joined the club from Inter Milan’s U19 in 2020 and has made a big step in his development. Last season he was involved in eight goals; this year, it has been 13. Gnonto’s contract expires in 2023.

Intermediary update Swiss Super League: Bern’s Rieder fourth most valuable
Another big winner is Bern’s Rieder. The Young Boys’ star’s market value is one million above Gnonto and shares the fourth spot with St. Gallen’s Leonidas Stergiou (+€1m to €7m). “Rieder showed good performances in the Champions League and the domestic championship,” Isler said. “The interest in him abroad has increased.” Under contract until 2024, Rieder has been linked to Real Madrid and Atalanta.
How Transfermarkt market values work
The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.
The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
