Highly indebted FC Barcelona have signed a sponsorship deal with Spotify. The deal will kick in the summer. The LaLiga club announced on Tuesday that they had signed a strategic partnership with the streaming service. As part of the partnership, Barcelona’s stadium will be called Spotify Camp Nou. Furthermore, as of the summer, the women’s and men’s teams of the club will wear the slogan Spotify on the shirt. The contract with the Swedish company will run until 2026.

Barcelona’s board have already signed off on the deal but the contract has to be ratified as part of an extraordinary delegate members assembly, which will take place on April 3.“We are very proud to announce a pioneering alliance like this with a world-renowned organization like Spotify,” Barcelona president Joan Laporta said in a club statement. “This partnership will allow us to continue to bring the club closer to its fans and make them feel, even more, part of the Barça family through unique experiences, combining two activities such as entertainment and football, making it possible for us to connect with new audiences around the world.”

The deal comes at just the right time. Barcelona are struggling financially and have debts in the region of €1.35 billion. The financial conditions of the deal remain disclosed. The Spanish press agency EFE reported that Barça will receive €70 million a year over four years but that part of the funds a contingent on sporting goals.
