FC Barcelona will not get rid of Ousmane Dembélé – “Presented one last option to him”

By

Stays until end of season

In all likelihood, Ousmane Dembélé will not leave FC Barcelona at the last minute and will not help the Catalans raise additional money for the upcoming signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. RMC Sport journalist Loïc Tanzi reported that Dembélé will remain with the Catalans until the end of the season.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta said on Monday night at the Mundo Deportivo gala: “The last option for Dembélé is a move to an English club,” Laporta said. A little later, he announced (quoted via Fabrizio Romano): “We presented one last option to Ousmane Dembélé.”

As Sky Sports reported, Chelsea again inquired about signing Dembélé – but a deal is reportedly proving difficult in view of the player’s high salary. A free transfer in the coming summer is still a possibility. Dembélé will leave Barça after the season and the club already wants to get him off the pay roll in January – so far without success. Talks about a contract extension had failed in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, Spanish newspaper Sport also linked the 24-year-old with a move to Tottenham. Spurs, who were very active on Deadline Day, wanted to acquire the services of the Catalans’ record signing, but withdrew after talks with club officially, because they did not want to meet the conditions of the Blaugranas, it is said. Dembélé was also mentioned as a possible target of Man United and Paris Saint-Germain recently.
