Done deal
FC Barcelona have announced the signing of winger Adama Traoré on Saturday evening. The 26-year-old returns to his former academy club in what could become a deal with a significant transfer fee. Traoré will initially join Barcelona on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The deal includes a purchase option with a long-term contract for the Spaniard. The Blaugranes will also pay his full salary for the time being.
Should the LaLiga club trigger the purchase option—the deal is not an obligation to buy—highly indebted Barça would have to pay €30 million. The contract following the loan would run for an additional five years. Traoré, who was under contract until 2023 at the Wolves will now return to his club after playing elsewhere for six years—he is not the first academy product to return to Barcelona. Traoré is considered a replacement for Ousmane Dembéle, the club wants to sell him in January.

Traoré left Barcelona in the summer of 2015 as a 19-year-old in a €10 million deal that saw him join Aston Villa. Traoré left the club as he did have no prospect of playing time. But the situation has changed, as Traoré got better, Barcelona got worse and were in need of a winger. The Spaniard played 237 games in England for Middlesbrough and Wolverhampton.
