Juve’s Kaio Jorge the alternative
US Salernitana sit at the bottom of the Serie A table, eight points behind the 17th spot. Now, they are apparently looking for high-profile reinforcements in order to secure their place in the top tier in the second half of the season. According to media reports in Italy, the Granata are considering signing former Chelsea forward Diego Costa, who is available on a free transfer after his contract with Atlético Mineiro was terminated a few weeks ago. With a market value of €5 million, he is the third most valuable free agent.

The Brazilian-born striker could add another club from Europe to his portfolio, where he has played for eight different sides in three countries so far. Costa had his most successful time at Atlético, for whom he made 216 appearances (83 goals/36 assists) with three loan spells between 2007 and 2014 and between 2018 and 2021. In the Spanish capital, the right-footed centre-forward reached his highest career market value, which amounted to €60 million in 2018.
Alternative to Costa: Juve’s Kaio Jorge on the radar of Salernitana
At Salernitana, where a prominent veteran is already under contract in Franck Ribéry, Costa could add firepower to the weakest attack in the league – only 14 goals in 22 matches. Should the signing of Costa fall through, the Granata have reportedly identified an alternative: Kaio Jorge.
The young forward had moved to Juventus last summer, where he is currently second choice with only 124 minutes of playing time in ten appearances so far. With a market value of €12 million, he is one of the most valuable youngsters in his position up to the age of 20 – only three players are valued higher.
