Pepi deal re-invested?
After selling Ricardo Pepi for $18 million to FC Augsburg, Major League Soccer side FC Dallas seem poised to re-invest a large portion of the fee in the squad. Transfermarkt can confirm various media reports that Dallas want to sign Argentine star Alan Velasco from Independiente.
According to sources, the MLS club has had informal talks with the Velasco camp and Independiente. But while talks have been held between all parties, no official transfer offer has been made at this point. Dallas are also not the only club interested, Augsburg have scouted the player as a potential addition in the winter. A significant fee will be required to sign the 19-year-old winger.
Velasco is an emerging star for Independiente and with a market value of $13.2 million is the fifth most valuable player playing in the Liga Profesional (overview). A speedy winger, Velasco has scored eight goals and ten assists in 69 games for Independiente since breaking into the first team in 2019. Sources have confirmed that Dallas will easily break their club-record transfer fee if the deal goes ahead.
