“I’m back in top shape”
According to information acquired by The Athletic, Christian Eriksen has received an offer from Brentford. The Premier League club would like to provide the Danish free agent with a contract until the end of the season plus an option for a further year.
For Eriksen, it would be a chance to return to professional football after his collapse at the European Championships last summer – his deal with Inter Milan was terminated by mutual consent in mid-December. Following rumours about a move to former club Ajax, Brentford now appear to have a good chance of bringing Eriksen back to England after two years.
Eriksen wants to go to the World Cup in Qatar: “My heart is not an obstacle”
“My goal is to be at the World Cup in Qatar. I want to play,” the former Tottenham star said in an interview with Danish TV channel DR1. “Physically, I’m back in top shape (…) My heart is not an obstacle,” Eriksen stressed in early January. He cannot play in Serie A, because in Italy athletes with defibrillators are not allowed to play.

Brentford shaped by Danes – World’s biggest plus in squad value
At The Bees, the attacking midfielder would meet several players from his home country: In addition to head coach Thomas Frank and his assistant Brian Riemer, there are no fewer than eight Danish footballers in the first team squad – Christian Nörgaard, Mathias Jensen, Mads Bech Sörensen, Zanka, Mads Roerslev Rasmussen, Jonas Lössl, Mads Bidstrup and Luka Racic. Eriksen knows some of these players from the national team.
The newly-promoted club sits ten points above the relegation spots after 21 and increased the squad’s market value from €80.7 million to €213.1 million in 2021 – the biggest upgrade of any team in the world. In Eriksen, Brentford would also get a player who has worldwide recognition.
