“Best years still ahead”

Kingsley Coman has renewed his contract that was set to expire in June 2023. The 25-year-old forward has signed a deal that will keep him at Bayern Munich until June 2027. The club confirmed the news on Wednesday morning. The Frenchman is now among the top earners at the club.

According to a report by L’EquipeComan will now earn €17 million before taxes, which means he now ranks just behind Manuel Neuer, Robert Lewandowski, Joshua Kimmich, and Leon Goretzka, who all earn between €18 million and €20 million a season. Leroy Sané’s salary is also in that sort of category. Sport Bild also reported that the salary was just below €20 million without naming any further details.

“We’re very happy Kingsley Coman has committed to FC Bayern with a long-term contract,” Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said in a club statement. “Kingsley came to FC Bayern in 2015 as one of Europe’s greatest attacking talents. He has developed into a world-class player with us over the past six and a half years. He already made history with his goal in the 2020 Champions League final and now has a great chance to leave his mark on an era. King, with his quality as a provider and his goalscoring threat, is of utmost importance for the future of our team. Our aim is for FC Bayern to continue to compete at the top of Europe in the coming years. With the contract extensions of Kingsley, Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka, we have laid a strong foundation for this.”

Including the initial loan fee, Bayern Munich paid €28 million to sign Coman from Juventus. His market value has since gone up and down. Until 2019 his market value grew to €60 million but a difficult year in 2020 meant he dropped to €40 million before going back up to €65 million. Coman’s current market value is €55 million, which makes him the sixth most valuable player in Bayern’s squad.

Bayern Munich renew with Coman: Frenchman has “big goals”

“I’m very happy because FC Bayern are one of the best clubs in the world and I know we still have a lot of opportunities and big goals here,” Coman said in a club statement. “I’ve been at the club since 2015 – it feels like a big family. Everything is perfect here. My best years as a footballer are still ahead of me, and I’m glad I’ll be spending them at FC Bayern. My biggest goal is to win the Champions League again – and this time, please, together with our fans.”
