Complete update in Belgium
Transfermarkt.be has completely updated the market values of the Belgian Jupiler Pro League and made numerous devaluations in the process. The poor showings in international competitions as well as some disappointing performances of the top clubs in the league play a role as well as the development of some new signings who could not meet the high expectations. Overall, the total value of the league drops from €852.58 million to €820.45 million.
Among the few market value winners at titleholders Club Brugge is Charles De Ketelaere – now the league’s sole most valuable player thanks to a €2 million upgrade. “At the age of 20, he is now a permanent member of the national team squad and has shown himself to be much more capable of scoring goals in recent weeks. If he continues to confirm this development, this mark should also remain just an intermediate step and things will go even higher by the end of the season,” area manager Bart Tamsyn explains.

The decisive factors for the minus of €7.25 million at Club Brugge are primarily the relatively expensive signings from the summer. Kamal Sowah (-2 to €5 million), Faitout Maouassa (-4 to €5 million), Stanley Nsoki (-1 to €5 million) and Owen Otasowie (-0.8 to €1.2 million) have disappointed so far and have therefore been downgraded. On the other hand, 17-year-old Noah Mbamba, who makes regular appearances, continues to be the most valuable player born in 2005 in the TM database with a market value of €5 million.
Market values Belgium: Genk drop as well – Gómez with biggest plus
Second place in the league rankings remains occupied by Noa Lang (€25 million), before Paul Onuachu of KRC Genk follows in third place. The forward, like many of his teammates, was devalued and now stands at €20 million. “The squad still has a lot of potential, but the performances so far this season cannot be ignored. In the league, they are only in ninth place after 21 games, and in the Europa League they went out after the group stages. This leads to a total minus of €14.2 million, but Genk are still the second most valuable in the league,” area manager Tamsyn explains.
Thanks to the update, RSC Anderlecht, where the biggest winner of the update is former Dortmund player Sergio Gómez, come closer. Used as a left-back by head coach Vincent Kompany, the Spanish U21 international scored 6 goals and 13 assists in 28 matches across all competitions and is already being linked with a move to a top league. The consequence is an upgrade from €3 million to €9 million for Gómez.
In addition, the market values at Royale Union Saint Gilloise, the newly-promoted surprise league leaders, are moving against the downward trend. The squad value of the club has risen by a total of €10.5 million, with top scorer Deniz Undav (+2.8 to €5 million), Belgium’s new international Dante Vanzeir (+2.5 to €5.5 million) and playmaker Casper Nielsen (+1.3 to €2.5 million) standing out in particular.

How Transfermarkt market values work
The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.
The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
