18 month loan agreed

Scottish giants Rangers FC have acquired US men’s national team player James Sands. The 21-year-old joins Rangers on loan for 18 months from Major League Soccer side New York City FC. The Premiership club will have an option to make the transfer permanent.

“James is a player who I have been aware of for some time,” Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst said in a club statement. His versatility was a big attraction and I’ve been impressed with his attitude and mentality in the games that I have watched recently. “He is a talented young player with areas of his game which we will endeavor to develop through our coaching.”

A seven times US men’s national team player (no goals), Sands can play multiple positions in defense and is considered one of the ten most valuable USMNT defenders on the planet. “I’m very excited to be joining Rangers Football Club,” Sands said in a club statement. “It is an incredible opportunity for me to join a club with such a winning history and worldwide fan base.”
