Ekstraklasa complete update
Transfermarkt has updated the market values of the Polish Ekstraklasa and the two top talents, Kacper Kozlowski (Pogon Szczecin) and Jakub Kaminski (Lech Poznan), were able to increase their lead in the market value ranking. The duo is first with a market value of €10 million each, three times the value of the trio that is ranked second. Ivi López (Rakow), Lubomir Satka (Lech) and Luquinhas (Legia) have a market value of €3 million each.
While Kozlowski has been linked with a move to Premier League clubs Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion, Kaminski has offers from several Bundesliga clubs. The Transfermarkt rumor board has recently discussed Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and VfL Wolfsburg as potential destinations—Die Wölfe had an offer turned down last summer.
Polish media have speculated whether the two talents could break previous transfer records. Jakub Moder joined Brighton & Hove Albion for €11 million on Deadline Day in October 2020—the only transfer in Ekstraklasa history that was above €10 million. In terms of market value, Kozlowski, who increased by €2 million, and Kaminski, who improved by €4 million, are the biggest winners of the update.
Filip Mladenović, who plays for struggling Legia, experienced the most significant drop. The 15-times Polish champions have collected just 15 points and are ranked on relegation spot 17 (to the Ekstraklasa standings). One primary reason is the club’s defense, which is the fifth-worst in the league, and Mladenovic is a significant part of that backline. The former Bundesliga defender saw his market value drop by €800,000 to €1.7 million. Altogether, Legia’s squad value dropped by €4 million to now €24 million. No other club in the Ekstraklasa had a bigger drop in squad value.
How Transfermarkt market values work
The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.
The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
