“He likes Spain too”
There has been no official offer for Ligue 1 forward Jonathan David. But the agent of the 21-year-old Canadian forward, Nick Mavromaras, is certain that David will move to a higher level than Lille are currently at next summer. After his €27 million transfer, David will have then spent two full seasons at the Ligue 1 club. “For us, the goal is to finish the season with Lille, but this will be his last season there for several reasons,” Mavromaras said in an interview with the French-speaking CBC program Radio Canada. David’s contract still runs until 2025.

“Nothing is ruled out,” Mavromaras said and with the exception of the Bundesliga listed all of Europe’s top leagues. “I think the Premier League is a great option for him. I think he likes Spain a lot too. He likes Spain because he likes what players do with the ball, their technical abilities.”
England and LaLiga are “main priorities” for David, who moved from Ottawa to KAA Gent‘s academy system in 2018. “The big Italian clubs are also an option and as is Paris Saint-Germain,” his agent added. Mavromaras was unable to say anything about a potential transfer fee. David, however, will not be cheap. Following this month’s market value update, the 24-times Canadian national team player is the most valuable non-PSG player in Ligue 1.
Agent on David: “We have to learn to live with the pressure”
Mavromaras believes that David is not far removed from the world elite. “Jonathan isn’t going to show it, but he knows he is one of the best young forwards in the world,” Mavromaras said. “There’s also Erling Haaland who could cost between €75 million and €100 million. If you want to be part of that list, you have to learn to manage the pressure.”
