Player for Player
Inter Miami CF have acquired the rights for Atlanta United‘s Mo Adams in a trade on Friday morning in exchange for the rights to sign goalkeeper Dylan Castanheira. Both players are out of contract at the end of the year but will not become free agents under Major League Soccer rules.
“Mo is another acquisition that improves the team leading into next year,” Inter Miami CF sporting director Chris Henderson said in a club statement. “He is an athletic and skillful player, can feature as a midfielder and right back, and brings a winning mentality that will be valuable for our roster.” Adams will be out of contract at the end of the year and will have to be signed to a new contract, which should be just a formality.
For Inter Miami, Mo Adams becomes the third acquisition this winter. On Thursday, the club acquired Ariel Lassiter from the Houston Dynamo and has already signed midfielder Jean Mota from Santos.

Castanheira to replaces Kann at Atlanta United
Castanheira, in the meantime, will replace Alec Kann, who signed as a free agent at FC Cincinnati earlier this week. Castanheira had a strong season with Atlanta United 2 in 2019 but was without an MLS contract and, as a result, was first drafted by FC Dallas in the re-entry draft and then traded to Inter Miami CF. “Dylan is a goalkeeper we’re familiar with from his time at the club, and we’re pleased to add him to our roster,” said Atlanta United technical director Carlos Bocanegra in a club statement. “He will bring quality and competition to our goalkeeper group.”
