Update A Lyga
Transfermarkt has updated the market values of the Lithuanian A Lyga. The biggest winner among the clubs is freshly crowned title defenders Zalgiris Vilnius, where right-winger Francis Kyeremeh is the most valuable player with a market value of €775,000 (+€75,000) and top goalscorer Hugo Vidémont is the biggest winner.
After scoring 17 goals, the 28-year-old Frenchman saw his market value increase by €275,000 to now €600,000 and is now the second most valuable player behind teammate Kyeremeh. Among the winners at Zalgiris were also defender Nemanja Ljubisavljevic and Joël Bopesu, who saw their market value increase by €150,000 and €125,000 to €450,000 and 425,000 respectively.
Center-back Semir Kerla was among the biggest losers. The 34-year-old Suduva Marijampole defender saw his market value drop by €100,000 to €350,000. But the biggest star of the league also experienced the biggest drop. Keisuke Honda saw his market value decrease by €225,000 to €275,000. The 35-year-old former Milan and CSKA Moscow star joined Suduva last September and scored one goal in six games. Honda’s contract expires at the end of the season.
How Transfermarkt market values work
The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.
The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
