Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls announced on Wednesday that they have triggered the purchase option of goalkeeper Carlos Coronel. The 24-year-old Brazilian was previously on loan from Austrian Bundesliga side Red Bull Salzburg. The fee is expected to be in the low six-figure range.

While Coronel will stay in New York, Youba Diarra will return to Austria. The club also announced that the loan deals for Tom Edwards (Stoke) and Andrew Gutman (Atlanta United) are set to expire. Both players will return to their clubs. The club also declined options on Luca Lewis, Mandela Egbo, Issiar DraméFábio, Mathias Jørgensen, and Daniel Royer.

Ryan Meara, AJ Marcucci, Aaron Long, Wikelman Carmona, and Omir Fernandez, in the meantime, have seen their contract options picked up. Furthermore, Frankie Amaya‘s three-year MLS contract, which he signed after being traded to the club from FC Cincinnati will officially go into effect on Jan. 1, 2022.
