Club to undergo changes

Signed in April for $6.5 million by Toronto FC from Santos FC, Yeferson Soteldo could already be on his way back to Brazil. On Monday, ESPN Brazil reported that Soteldo is in advanced talks with Série A side Palmeiras. According to ESPN, Soteldo will sign a three-year contract at the São Paulo-based club. Soteldo’s transfer could free up money to bring in the likes of Lorenzo Insigne and head coach Bob Bradley

Significant change is likely in Southern Ontario. Toronto were by some margin the worst Canadian-based Major League Soccer team last season. While the Vancouver Whitecaps reached the playoffs and CF Montréal were competitive until the final day of the regular season, TFC finished the regular season with just 28 points—the second-lowest in the entire league

Selling Soteldo would free up a Designated Player spot and significant salary. Toronto FC have been linked to current LAFC head coach Bradley. Furthermore, OneSoccer reported that a member of the G.E.V. Sport&management srl agency was at the D.C. United game on Sunday. The agency represents, among others, Napoli‘s Insigne. Insigne would be a significant signing. Under contract until 2022, Insigne has a market value of $52.8 million, which would easily make him the most valuable player in MLS.
