Zack Steffen signs new Manchester City deal – “This is the best team in the world”

Until 2025

Premier League champions Manchester City have signed US goalkeeper Zack Steffen to a new long-term contract that will keep him at the club until 2025. Signed from the Columbus Crew for $7.5 million in July 2019 and spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Fortuna Düsseldorf. Since signing for Man City, Steffen has first increased his market value to $11 million but has now dropped to $6.6 million. Since joining City full-time, Steffen has featured 16-times across all competitions.

“This is a fantastic moment me—I am so happy to be committing my future to Manchester City,” Steffen said in a club statement. “In my opinion, this is the best team in world football, with the best manager and best coaching setup. It’s a privilege to be here and contribute to this team achieving its targets. I feel I learn every day and I have definitely improved as a goalkeeper since coming here. I contributed to our success last season, which was an amazing experience.”

Called up to the US men’s national team for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Mexico and Jamaica, Steffen is currently the most valuable American goalkeeper in the world (check out the squad here). The 26-year-old, however, has lost his starting position under Gregg Berhalter to New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner
