After defeat to Rayo
After being in charge for just 14 months, FC Barcelona have sacked head coach Ronald Koeman. The club made the announcement just after midnight on Thursday, hours after the club had lost 1-0 to Rayo Vallecano.
“The president of the club, Joan Laporta, informed [Koeman] of the decision after the defeat against Rayo Vallecano,” a club statement read. “Ronald Koeman will say goodbye to the squad on Thursday,” the statement added.
Koeman was appointed in August 2020 and in 67 games in charge has collected 1.96 points on average. This season Barcelona have picked up just 15 points from their first 10 LaLiga games and have already lost twice in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
