Voetbal International report
Two months after his contract at FC Utrecht was terminated, Eljero Elia is still without a club. But that could change very soon. According to a report by Voetbal International, the 34-year-old winger is now in talks with his former academy club ADO Den Haag.
The club is in financial trouble and is currently looking for a new investor. Last summer, the club was relegated to the Keuken Kampioen Divisie (second division) for the first time since 2007. The club coached by Ruud Brood has collected 13 points from the first seven games and are currently fourth. ADO are above the playoff promotion line, and two of the teams ahead of them—Alkmaar II and Utrecht II—are not allowed to be promoted.
VI reported that Elia was seen at the club on Monday and that he will speak to the club bosses one more time on Tuesday. It remains to be seen whether the KNVB will allow ADO to sign Elia, given the club’s financial situation.

Elia to ADO rather than Inter Miami?
Elia, who left the club for Twente Enschede in 2007, is willing to turn down other offers. One club that wants to sign the 30-times Dutch national team player is Major League Soccer club Inter Miami.
