Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC have added free agent goalkeeper Jamal Blackman. The 27-year-old joins LAFC as a free agent after his contract at Chelsea expired this summer.
“Jamal is a talented goalkeeper and an important addition to the club,” LAFC general manager John Thorrington said in a club statement. “We look forward to welcoming him and are confident that he will prove to be a great fit with his skills and experience.”
Although he has been under contract at Chelsea since 2006, LAFC will already become his ninth professional club as the Blues have previously sent Blackman out on loan to seven different clubs. The former England youth international, who is also eligible for Barbados has played 184 games for Middlesbrough, Östersund, Sheffield United, Leeds United, Vitesse, Bristol Rovers, and Rotherham.
