Salzburg miss two penalties

Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo scored in his second game in a row for Manchester United. But it was not enough to prevent a surprise defeat against Swiss Super League champions Young Boys. The club from Bern won the game thanks to goals by Nicolas Moumi Ngamaleu (13′) and a 95th-minute winner by US men’s national team striker Jordan Siebatcheu

Twelve years and 110 days after his last Champions League game for United, Ronaldo scored after a great pass from compatriot Bruno Fernandes. But after Aaron Wan-Bissaka was sent off in the 35th minute, Man United struggled. Brought on for Ronaldo, Jesse Lingard made the decisive mistake that led to Siebatcheu’s winner.

It was Ronaldo’s 177 game in the UCL. The 36-year-old broke the record set by his former Real Madrid teammate Iker Casillas. His 135th goal also increases the lead over Lionel Messi (120 goals) at the top of the all-time goalscoring list. Ronaldo also scored twice against Newcastle United in the Premier League last weekend.

Red Bull Salzburg miss two penalties – Aaronson with a solid debut

Brenden Aaronson, in the meantime, experienced a curious start to his Champions League campaign. Salzburg managed two out of three penalties in the first half. All three were won by German national team player Karim Adeyemi. Adeyemi missed the first (13′). Luka Sucic scored the second (21′) before missing his second attempt in the 37th minute. Sevilla were more effective; Ivan Rakitic scored from the spot in the 42nd. But then, in the 50th minute, Youssef En-Nesyri was sent off with a second yellow card after he tried to win the game’s fifth penalty with a dive.
