The 18-year-old made his debut for Barça in February and has managed 18 appearances (one goal and three assists). As a result of his performances, his market value skyrocketed to €25 million, only four players born in 2003 are more valuable. Barcelona’s ongoing financial problems, however, meant that the club could not come to terms on a new contract with their talented midfielder.

Moriba to RB Leipzig: “Has been on our wishlist for many months”

“We have been able to land an exceptional talent in Ilaix Moriba. We are very proud that he has chosen RB Leipzig, despite many offers from several top clubs in Europe, and that we were able to quickly convince him of our philosophy,” commercial director for sport Florian Scholz said in a club statement. We would like to thank FC Barcelona for the open and honest discussions. Signing Ilaix brings this transfer window to a successful close for us, one in which we made several strategic changes.”
