Former Bayern star
Jérome Boateng is on the verge of joining Olympique Lyon. Multiple outlets, including Foot Mercato, reported on Tuesday that negotiations were advanced. While Fabrizio Romano added that Boateng had already completed his medical and that a deal is imminent, Sport1 were more careful stating that negotiations are advanced. The 32-year-old former Bayern Munich star is currently a free agent and could join a new club after deadline day. The center-back is among the most valuable free agents.
Coached by former BVB boss Peter Bosz, Olympique Lyon had a slow start to the season and collected just five points from the first four games. The club has also struggled to add new players—the only significant new signing is former Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri.

Lyon become Boateng’s second club abroad. In 2010/11 the German center-back played for Manchester City.
