Leicester are apparently working on signing Ademola Lookman from RB Leipzig. The Athletic reports that the two clubs are in talks over a loan deal with an option to buy. According to the report, however, “there is still work to be done” before a transfer can be completed. The forward had already been loaned out to the Premier League by the Red Bulls last season – at that time to Fulham, where he made 35 appearances (four goals/four assists).
With the Cottagers, Lookman was relegated from the English top flight and subsequently returned to his parent club, where he is still under contract until 2024. In Leipzig, the London native completed pre-season training and was also used in friendlies, but it was not enough for a place in the squad of head coach Jesse Marsch in the new season so far.

In total, Lookman has only played 24 matches (five goals/four assists) for the Red Bulls, who had signed him permanently from Everton for €18 million after a six-month loan in 2019, which makes him one of the 15 most expensive signings in RB Leipzig’s history. Lookman has been linked with a move back to England for some time. In recent weeks, for example, he is also said to have attracted interest from Crystal Palace, Wolves, Watford and Burnley.
