Confirmed: Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Juventus immediately – Talks with Man City

Transfer imminent?

The last few days of the summer transfer window promise a hot conclusion. Real Madrid are pushing to sign Kylian Mbappé (see full report). That transfer could have implications elsewhere as Paris Saint-Germain—should they agree to sell Mbappé—are expected to sign a high-profile player. One possibility is Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese striker is currently orchestrating a transfer away from Juventus.

Update: Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri confirmed on Friday that CR7 is forcing his departure: “Cristiano Ronaldo told me yesterday that he wants to leave Juventus immediately. It is true and confirmed. That’s why he didn’t train today and won’t be available for tomorrow’s game against Empoli.”

According to a report by SIC Notícias reporter Pedro Sepúlveda, Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes traveled to Paris on Thursday to sound out a potential transfer. Another potential destination is Manchester City. The Sky Blues have recently missed out on signing top striker Harry Kane from league rivals Tottenham and are in the market for a player who can guarantee them goals.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, in fact, has indicated that Man City seems to be the favorite to land the Portuguese superstar. One major obstacle, however, is the transfer fee. City were hopeful to sign the forward, whose contract in Italy will be expiring next summer, on a free transfer. Juventus, however, want between €28m and €30m. Man City have not made a direct offer yet and are instead negotiating a deal via Mendes. Ronaldo, however, has made it clear that he wants to leave Juventus.
