The Swiss national team player leaves Liverpool one year before his contract expires. Shaqiri joined Liverpool in 2018 for a deal worth €14.7 million. In July, the winger made it public that he wanted to leave the club for a new challenge. Lyon now becomes his sixth club in the fifth country. Shaqiri started his career at Basel and joined Bayern Munich in 2012; from there, he moved on loan to Inter Milan, where he signed a permanent deal in the summer of 2015 to be transferred to Premier League club Stoke City.
A 98-times Swiss national team player, Shaqiri only was a regular starter at Basel and Stoke. He also played the majority of his 405 club games for those two teams (130 for Basel, 92 for Stoke). Shaqiri won the Champions League with Bayern in 2013 and with Liverpool in 2019.
