Deal with loan back agreed
Major League Soccer side New England Revolution are about to receive a historic Canadian soccer fee for winger Tajon Buchanan. On Thursday, MLSSoccer.com writer Tom Bogert reported that the Revs have an agreement in principle in place with Jupiler Pro League side Club Brugge to sell the 22-year-old winger for $7 million. That fee would be the fourth-biggest ever paid for a Canadian national team player.
Buchanan is expected to complete the 2021 MLS season before heading to Europe. Bogert reported that the two clubs in principle have agreed to complete the deal now and that Buchanan will be loaned back to the New England Revolution. Buchanan has been a standout player at the just-completed Gold Cup and was voted the tournament’s best young player. The winger has scored three goals and four assists in 13 MLS games this season. Buchanan is ranked among the most valuable Canadian players on the market today.
