Major League Soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy have added defender Niko Hämäläinen. The 24-year-old defender arrives on loan from Championship side Queens Park Rangers. Hämäläinen holds a US passport and will not occupy an international roster slot.

Prior to signing Hämäläinen, the Galaxy traded $50,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) to Chicago Fire in exchange for the number one spot in the MLS Waiver Order to acquire the defender. A product of the FC Dallas academy, Hämäläinen has made seven appearances for Finland’s national team.
