From MLS To Top 5 league
Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire are in advanced negotiations with RC Lens over a transfer of right-winger Przemyslaw Frankowski. Chicago-based sports writer Brian Sandalow from Sun-Times Sports was the first to report the deal.
According to Sandalow, the Fire and Lens have already agreed on the structure of the deal. The MLS club will receive twice the fee they paid for the 26-year-old Polish winger in 2019—Chicago paid €1.5 million for Frankowski in 2019 when they signed him from Polish Ekstraklasa club Jagiellonia.
A fee in the region of €3 million would be the most expensive departure in Chicago Fire’s history. The record is currently held by Shaun Maloney and DaMarcus Beasley—both left the club for €2 million. The deal could also have consequences elsewhere in the league. Lens were one of the clubs interested in Canadian winger Tajon Buchanan but with New England Revolution favoring a winter transfer the Ligue 1 club moved on to Frankowski.
