Tanner Tessmann is now officially headed to Italy. On Thursday, Major League Soccer side FC Dallas and newly promoted Serie A side Venezia FC announced that Tessmann had completed his medical and that the midfielder has signed a contract until 2025. Dallas will receive $3 million, which makes Tessmann the third most expensive outgoing transfer in club history.
“Ever since I came to the academy at 14 years old, FC Dallas was developing me, honing my skills and making me a better young man,” Tessmann said in a Dallas club statement. I knew an opportunity like this would be possible and it was always in the back of my mind, only because FC Dallas was there. I’m excited for this new experience. It’s going to be a good journey. This is not a goodbye. It’s an ‘I’ll see you soon’.”
ESPN previously reported that a deal with the promoted Serie A side was in the final stages. According to MLSSoccer.com writer Tom Bogert, Tessmann will cost around $4 million, plus add-ons and incentives—the third-most Venezia have ever paid for a player. A central midfielder, Tessmann has recently trained with Bayern Munich. The 19-year-old has made seven appearances in Major League Soccer this season (no goals).
