Trade announced!
MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew have acquired forward Erik Hurtado from CF Montréal in exchange for $200,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM). Montréal previously signed Hurtado as a free agent ahead of the 2021 season (one assist in seven MLS games).
“We would like to welcome Erik to Columbus,” Columbus Crew general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said in a club statement. “Erik is a versatile forward who has valuable experience in our League and provides us with another option on attack. His addition to our roster will ensure that we have another proven MLS goal scorer to call upon when needed.”
Columbus will be Hurtado’s fourth club in MLS. Drafted by the Vancouver Whitecaps in 2013, the 30-year-old striker also played for Sporting Kansas City before joining Montréal last winter. Hurtado has scored 19 goals and 11 assists in 139 regular MLS season games.
