Talisman on the move?
West Ham’s search for a new striker has apparently brought the club to the doors of Stamford Bridge, where they are reportedly negotiating a transfer fee for the signing of young striker Armando Broja. With a market value of €22 million and a contract with Chelsea that is set to run until 2026, the Premier League giants are apparently intent on keeping their young star. However, according to the Athletic, West Ham have made an offer which may entice the young player away from his parent club.
Despite only making one senior appearance for Chelsea, Broja has quickly built up an impressive reputation in English football, following a string of outstanding seasons for the club’s youth teams – 19 goals and five assists in 48 games – as well as a loan spell at Southampton last season, where the 20-year-old talisman bagged nine goals and an assists in 38 appearances. As such, West Ham have now reportedly taken notice of the player and are willing to part with no less than €35.9m to sign the young player.
David Moyes’ side are seemingly intent on signing a long-term solution to their No.9 problems this summer, after spending the past two seasons with make-shift answers to their goal scoring problems. Indeed, ever since the hammers sold Sébastien Haller to Ajax in 2020, the club have been reliant on goalscoring midfielders and wingers or the rather inconsistent Michail Antonio in front of goal. As such, a bona fide striker like Broja would slot into a notable hole in West Ham’s team ahead of next season.

Broja ranks highly in a summer of many expensive forward
Should Broja complete such a move to West Ham, he’ll be joining a long list of goalscoers that have moved clubs this summer for top fees. Indeed, despite the tremendous amount of money the Hammers are likely to spend on a relatively unproven forward, Broja will still only rank as the ninth most expensive forward in this summer transfer window alone.
