Serhou Guirassy, the 27-year-old striker for Stuttgart, has made history by scoring 14 goals in the first eight Bundesliga games this season. This breaks the start record set by Robert Lewandowski in the previous season. Guirassy is currently the most prolific forward in Europe’s top 5 leagues, ahead of Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez and Erling Haaland.

With his impressive performance, Guirassy has already been linked to Juventus and AC Milan, despite being under contract until 2026. He has an exit clause allowing him to leave Stuttgart for €20m. Nottingham Forest and Ajax Amsterdam were interested in signing him but did not activate the exit clause. Guirassy’s market value has recently been updated from €14m to €40m, making him the most valuable player in the Stuttgart squad.

Stuttgart head coach Sebastian Hoeneß is happy to have Guirassy in the squad and believes a season with 20 or more goals would attract more interest from top clubs. Guirassy has already scored three goals more than his previous single-season record of 11 goals. He has been involved in 65% of Stuttgart’s Bundesliga goals and scores on average every 44 minutes.

The question remains, will Guirassy’s goalscoring form continue? While some expected it to slow down, Guirassy has defied expectations so far. However, Wyscout data shows that his expected goals (xG) this season have been 6.37 or 7.63 xG less than the goals he actually scored. The good news for Stuttgart is that Guirassy ranks third in xG in the league, behind Victor Boniface and Harry Kane.

Although Guirassy may not break the Bundesliga goalscoring record or finish ahead of Kane or Boniface, he could potentially finish the season as a top-three scorer. He currently ranks third in shots and second in touches inside the penalty box in the league. If he maintains this level of performance, a transfer fee of €20m would be considered a steal. Guirassy’s remarkable start to the season has caught the attention of top clubs, and his future looks promising.
