Aston Villa are determined to resist any January offers for key midfielder Douglas Luiz.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta remains a fan of Luiz after having two offers for the Brazilian rejected on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2022.

Liverpool are also understood to have taken note of Luiz’s stellar form this season, which has helped propel Villa into the Premier League’s top four.

But Villa are under no financial pressure to sell and see the former Manchester City Man as crucial to their hopes of maintaining a tilt at the Champions League places.

Luiz, who has started all 13 of Aston Villa’s Premier League games, only signed a new contract last October. He has six goals and four assists in 21 appearances in all competitions this season.

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite is set to have his pick of top clubs to choose from when, and not if, he leaves Goodison Park.

The Toffees have sensibly tied Branthwaite down to a new contract to keep his transfer value high, but know they will have to cash in sooner than later to help ease their financial woes.

Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle are all keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old centre-back.

England under-21 international Branthwaite has played ten Premier League games for Everton this season.

Tottenham defender Eric Dier is seriously considering making an emotional return to Sporting Lisbon.

Dier will be a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the season and can negotiate with overseas clubs from January.

Spurs offered Dier to Premier League clubs during the summer transfer window but talkSPORT understands his preference is to move abroad.

England international Dier began his career Sporting after being brought up in Portugal before joining Spurs in 2014.

Struggling Burnley are anticipating interest in defender Jordan Beyer.

German Beyer has been one of the rare bright notes in an otherwise disappointing season for Vincent Kompany’s Clarets.

The 6ft 2inch centre-back is on the radar of Crystal Palace, Fulham and West Ham as well as clubs in the Bundesliga.

Burnley took up the option to sign Beyer permanently in the summer after he helped them to promotion from the Championship while on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach.
