According to Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Noticias and The Guardian, the transfer fee offered by Spurs amounted to €45 million plus €10 million in possible bonus payments, which would make the Colombian the most expensive Premier League signing in the current transfer window – but the amount is reportedly not enough for Porto, who want at least €60 million.

Wanted by Tottenham: Díaz cost FC Porto €7.22 million in 2019

Díaz has been under contract with Porto since 2019 and had since increased his market value twentyfold. The Colombia international had moved to the port city from Junior FC in his home country for €7.22 million in 2019. He considered to be very versatile on the left wing.

After his team’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea, Conte once again pointed out the need for transfers and drew attention to the fundamental difference in quality compared to the top clubs. In the current transfer window, Spurs have not signed a player so far – last summer, the club invested €67 million in new signings such as Bryan Gil and Emerson Royal. Tottenham rank tenth in the English spending table in 2021/22. Leaders Arsenal invested €166 million.

According to reports, the club’s most recent €17.9 million bid for Wolves winger Adama Traoré was rejected, but the 26-year-old is still on the radar – Spurs are confident of reaching an agreement by next Monday.
